Struktur

Limewood, cabbage, packaging film, sandpaper – materials with entirely different properties that in Struktur encounter the question: What happens when you try to print with them? Across five chapters, the book explores how different materials shape the printing process and the resulting images: How does an impression change on different papers? What patterns emerge when materials are printed on top of each other? And at what point does a material break under the pressure of the press? Struktur was created as part of Paul Tuttas’ artistic research with prints directly made from the original printing blocks of the materials, complemented by the artist’s own letterpress-set texts.
