The book TEKST-TUR is based on a landart project realized as part of Bergen European Capital of Culture 2000. A ramblers’ trail in the mountain was marked with letters that together formed a text. To experience the text, the reader had to wander through the landscape.
TEKST-TUR takes its starting point from walking traditions and our cultural-historical heritage with writing and signs in the landscape. It also refers to the Norwegian Tourist Association, which always marks their hiking trails in the mountains with a red T. However, using the entire alphabet provides a text as you walk.
TEKST-TUR is an alternative to today's forms of text dissemination, here it is nature that is the cover and medium for a text. Typography meets topography. You never see the whole text; Through the slow reading, the words are revealed and changed as you walk. The «book» is 4 kilometers long and represents a radical change in reading routines. The act of reading is a walk. The idea came from the book universe and the project eventually also ended up in book form.
