Mutis en negro VIII
Pilar Millán
Kohlefaden (hilo de carbón) is an exhibition and artist's book originally presented in 2024 at einBuch.haus. 'Based on images of botanical drawings made at the school founded by Spanish scientist JC Mutis during scientific expeditions in the colonial era, Pilar Millán presents a striking collection of black ink on paper, that aims to take a critical look at the narrative of History and its reflection in the 'now. The version sponsored by the powers that be hides and conceals under an opaque black all the information present in the original botanical drawings: colour and volume, beauty and reality."*
