Dongwan Kook

I am Three or Four or Five was originally featured in Dongwan Kook’s solo exhibition of the same title (PLACEMAK2, Seoul, 2020). This artists’ book was newly designed, translated into English, and introduced through the Grapes and seeds exhibition at einbuch.haus in 2023.

This book looks at the development and growth of life through 41 free association drawings depicting a fetus in the womb and 41 texts corresponding to each image. The artist describes growth as creating wrinkles by repeatedly merging and splitting with all beings encountered, and unfolds the dynamic journey of growth for the first 40 weeks after the birth of life with her unique and delicate skills.
