einBuch.haus is pleased to present the artist's books of Laure Catugier, tracing her engagement with the medium of the book from her first monograph and book-object, Architecture is Frozen Music (2022), to her most recent projects. Trained in architecture and visual art, Catugier treats the book not as a container for images but as a structure to be built, entered and rearranged. Her long-standing study of modernist architecture finds a natural continuation in the book's own structure: line, surface, volume and perspective pass freely between the architectural image and the page. This approach owes much to Oskar Hansen's theory of "Open Form," which Architecture is Frozen Music takes as its structural premise, refusing any fixed beginning, end or reading direction so that each reader assembles their own path through the work.
Page ↔ Plan brings together Catugier's book projects developed through residencies in Romania (Sounds Like a Book, Sõna), France (Cité Internationale des Arts, Paris) and Taiwan, alongside her open-call submission to AMBruno, Rhythmn (2023) and Final (2025). On this occasion, einBuch.haus presents four new book projects: A Never-Ending Stone, STOIC, SPLIT and Autodafé. Each extends Catugier's investigation of the book as architecture. STOIC, made with artist Sujin Moon during a residency at Pier2 Art Center in Kaohsiung, binds photographs of the city's post-war architecture through cutting and folding alone, without glue or thread; A Never-Ending Stone takes its title from a 19th-century description of concrete and unfolds as a dos-à-dos structure with no fixed front or back.
Alongside the book projects, the exhibition presents for the first time the printing works Catugier produced during her residency at Texture Printmaking Lab in Tainan, made in dialogue with local architecture and political status. Together, these works present the book as a site where images gain volume, pages become structured, and reading becomes an act of physical navigation.

Laure Catugier
Born in Toulouse, France, in 1982. Lives and works in Berlin. Graduated from the School of Architecture of Toulouse, the Beaux-Arts de Toulouse, and the Royal Art institute of Stockholm (Decolonizing Architecture Advanced Studies Department).
The artistic practice of Laure Catugier finds its foundations in art / architecture relationships and takes the form of artist’s books, site-specific installations, or performances. She explores more specifically post-war architecture by focusing on the ubiquitous use of concrete internationally, contributing to a standardization of forms, standards and uses. It thus questions the social norms at work, where a patriarchal and colonialist relationship to the world predominates.
Her work has been exhibited internationally: Tainan Public Library (Tainan, Taiwan), The Reference (Seoul), Total Museum of Contemporary Art (Seoul), Liebling Haus - The White City Center (Tel Aviv), IN-SONORA (Madrid), ARTUM Foundation (Warsaw), Laznia Center for Contemporary Art (Gdansk, Poland), CentralTrak (Dallas, US), OXO Tower (London) and Arte Fiera Bologna; in Berlin at the ZK/U, Galerie Weisser Elefant, German-Japanese Cultural Center and Korean Cultural Center; in Düsseldorf at the Stadtmuseum and French Institute; in Paris at the Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac and Voltaire Mécénat Emerige.
