Screen printing meets book making
(EN) In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn the basics of screen printing and bookbinding while creating your own unique booklet.
In the first part of the course, Lea will guide you through the screen-printing process. You’ll develop your own idea, create a stencil, and print your design onto the paper that will become your booklet.
In the second part, Julia will introduce you to different bookbinding techniques and show you how to turn your printed pages into a finished book.
At the end of the workshop, you’ll have your very own self-printed and hand-bound booklet. Play with colours, shapes and paper, and bring your ideas to life!

Anna Lea Schmitt (she/her) is a Berlin-based artist working across illustration, screen printing, risograph, and ceramics. Screen printing is a central part of her practice, which she also shares through workshops, encouraging others to explore the medium and develop their own visual language. Her work explores feminism, queerness, sexuality, and the human body, drawing from her own experiences as a queer woman as well as from mythology and fairy tales and the roles women and female-read bodies play within them. Through distorted bodies, expressive colours, and playful yet unsettling imagery, Schmitt reinterprets familiar narratives while exploring transformation, liberation, desire, and queer existence.
Julia Fabricius (born 1993 in Gothenburg, Sweden) lives and works in Berlin as a graphic designer and bookbinder. She studied fine arts and art history at Brooklyn College (2014) and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Design at University of Europe in Berlin (2018). Following her degree, Julia studied book history at Lund University in Sweden, and completed an internship at a bookbindery (Buchbinderei Alexandra Klünder) in Berlin. An important part of Julia's practice involves teaching workshops in bookbinding as well as supporting other creatives with their artist's books. She has been giving workshops both at universities, book fairs and at einBuch.haus since 2021.
