Prologues / Epilogues
Prologues / Epilogues is an artist book designed to be read in two directions: from beginning to end, and from end to beginning. This dual structure is reflected in its form, consisting of 60 fictional prologues and their corresponding epilogues.
The book is split into two inverted halves that mirror each other requiring the reader to physically flip the book to switch between the two.
At its core, the project positions the reader as the bridge between prologue and epilogue, offering them the freedom to choose where the narrative begins. This openness invites reflection on the dynamic relationship between beginnings and endings, and how meaning shifts depending on one’s point of entry.
By omitting the central element, the body of the novel or the main story, the book embraces a deliberate incompleteness. In this absence, space is created for the reader’s imagination to fill in the possible middle. The book becomes not just something to be read, but something to be completed by the act of reading and interpretation.
The writing is inspired by authors whose work has deeply influenced me. Without their voices, mine would not exist. Prologues / Epilogues is both an homage and an invitation: to explore, to reflect, and to reimagine the shape and rhythm of narrative itself.
