Back in New York
Back In New York is a retrospective essay photo book the artist looked back at the photos taken in New York in 2015, pieced them together and reassembled memories like solving a puzzle. Fragmented memories come to mind, but they seem to be vague recollections. Moments that were once real in the past are now elusive memories. Flashing moments and impressions of the city that once felt empty all pass by, leaving only faint traces.
Looking at the photo book from above, there is hidden text telling an autobiographical story, a narrative that seems destined to disappear if not discovered. The original photos can prove the moments that existed in New York. However, the photos in this photo book are all transformed, and whether these stories are true or fictional remains unknown. Memories, like living organisms, transform, distort, and gradually fade away with the passage of time.
