Johann Hinrich Claussen

In his collection of poems, Patrick Gabler remains faithful to the age-old rules of the haiku whilst freely exploring his own life experiences and his perspective on the world as he ventures out – vividly and unpretentiously. In doing so, he also raises a question that was rarely found in the traditional, ascetic-oriented haiku: How do I return from my ‘I’ to the ‘you’, to you? A subtle thread runs through his verses, in which the haiku takes on the form of love poetry. Alongside and within the contemplation of nature, these poems also deal with love that is remembered, lost, rediscovered, brought back to life, fragile and longed for.
