Every two years, einBuch.haus collaborates with Claudia de la Torre to invite 12 contemporary artists who use books as an artistic medium to participate in the Calendar project. In 2022, we launched our first edition, Calendar 2023, alongside the exhibition Being with Others – Zusammensein. The exhibition showcased 12 artists' books from the contributors, offeringg a physical space for people to meet and connect.

This year, we aim to present the exhibition with a slightly different approach. Coinciding with December 12, 2024 (12+12=24), we asked the 12 artists featured in Calendar 2025 to each recommend one artist and their selected project, bringing together a total of 24 books. We want this approach to create opportunities for connections between books and readers.

As everyone knows, Berlin's cultural institutions, project spaces, and the artists and cultural workers involved in them are currently facing many challenges. einBuch.haus is no exception and is also going through a difficult time. However, as always, we plan to work even harder next year with the help and support of the artists and readers who are part of einBuch.haus.

To take a step forward, we would like to spend December 12 with those who have crossed paths with us over the past five years.

Let’s be with Others!

The exhibition Calendar 2025 is a homage to the exhibition March 1969 by Seth Siegelaub. The invitation text above is amended from his letter. Participating artists were invited to present any relevant work regarding the “Time” and their assigned month. Through this project, einBuch.haus aims to connect contemporary artists who use the “book” as their main artistic practice.
